In November 2003 we visited the brand new 24x30 two story Gambrel Garage/Shop recently finished by Dr. J. Mark Legan at his home in Dyersburg, TN. Dr. Legan is a board certified radiologist and currently serves as the Chief of the Radiology Department at the Baptist Memorial Hospital at Union City. Mary, his wife, is a stay-at-home mom with four children. Together they live in a beautiful home on 22 acres that they are gradually landscaping with trees from Mark's own tree nursery! Mark and Mary were just too busy to tackle building the barn themselves so they hired local contractor Glen Still to ramrod the project. Well, Glen didn't mess around....he completed the construction over the Summer of 2003!!

Mark sent us some great photos of the whole thing....

First they leveled and compacted the building site.

....then poured the slab.

When the concrete cured, they stood up the wall framing....

....and set the 4x12 header beam for the 18' wide Double Bi-fold Doors.

With the second floor joists installed and sheeted the trusses start going up!!!

This part goes really fast!

Trusses are all up and the gable end wall framing goes in.

Cool!!!!

The T1-11 siding went up along with the doors and windows....

....and now this great looking green metal roof!

This shot of Rusty, Mark's Golden Retriever, was just too cute to leave out!!

Inside, the Legans have lots of room for all their work AND play doo-dads.

Glen used a 24' LVL beam at the end of the loft to pick up the joist "carrier" and, thus, eliminate the need for support posts.... clever!!!

Same thing upstairs.... wide open!

Really nice choice of colors! Mark said, "When we saw the Barnplans web site and some of the barns that had been built from the plans available, we were sold that this was the structure we wanted.

Mary said, ".... we really enjoy our barn a lot!" and now they sit outside the barn every evening and and watch the beautiful Tennessee sunsets.

Nice work, you guys.... that's one mighty fine lookin' barn!!!
